How to Paraphrase Without Plagiarising

Paraphrasing is not word-swapping. Learn the difference, and the checks that keep your work honest.

Understand first, then write. Read the passage, close it, and write the idea in your own words from memory. If you are looking at the original while you write, you will copy its structure without noticing.

Change structure, not just words. Swapping a few words for synonyms while keeping the sentence order is still copying. Reorder the ideas, change the sentence shape, and use your own examples where possible.

Credit the source. Even a genuine paraphrase needs a citation in academic and professional writing. Paraphrasing removes quotation marks; it does not remove the debt to the original author.

Compare afterwards. Put your version beside the original and check: same words in the same order? Same sentence shape? If so, rewrite again.

Use the UMARIX Text Rewriter on your own drafts to vary wording — never as a way to disguise someone else's work as your own.
