UMARIX Writing Tools

Summarise a long text extractively: sentences are scored by keyword frequency and position, and the top sentences are returned in their original order. Original and summary word counts are shown as real, measured numbers.

Runs entirely in your browser. Unlimited uses of this browser tool β€” uses are not metered, no account required, no text stored anywhere.

How it works: How it works: these are browser-based writing tools. They use templates and language rules in your browser. Your text never leaves your device, nothing is stored, uses are not metered, and no account is required.

How to use it

  1. Paste a long text (a few paragraphs or more works best).
  2. Choose a length: Short keeps about a quarter of the sentences, Medium about half, Long about two-thirds.
  3. Press Summarize.
  4. Compare the original and summary word counts.

Limitations

  • This is extractive summarising: it selects your sentences, it does not write new ones.
  • A summary can lose nuance, qualifications and counter-arguments β€” read the original for important decisions.
  • Very short texts have little to summarise.

Frequently asked questions

Does the summary use my own sentences?

Yes. It selects sentences from your text and keeps them in their original order.

Why are the word counts shown?

So you can verify the reduction yourself, instead of trusting a claim about it.

Can it summarise a book?

It works on pasted text in your browser. Very long texts may be slow on a phone; split them into sections.
